With the newly launched Renault kwid, Renault, the French carmaker has directly targeted the India’s largest carmaker Maruti. This first entry-level car comes with several features. The most important feature consists of claiming it as the most fuel efficient car and secondary feature is the appearance of the car which makes it most differentiable. Its looks like a micro SUVs hatch rather than a typical small hatchback. Due to its unique styling and price, this car is directly competing with the top selling maruti hatchback Wagon r,and  Celerio. This article presents the specifications and descriptions of all three models.

Comparing with respect to prices, then it is the French model, with the base price of 2.79lakhs that wins. Celerio and Waganr will cost around 4.24lakh and 3.99lakh respectively.

Now comes the dimensions. Kwid has the longest length of 3679mm whereas height and width of Celerio is better and they are 1560mm and 1600 accordingly. Celerio also has the best wheelbase and ground clearence among three that is 2425mm and 1410mm which makes it more spacious as well as more functional on Indian roads than other two. The wheelbase of wagonr is 2400mm and kwid is 2422mm.

Coming to engines, then the Kwid will be accompanied by 0.8-litre (799cc) 3-cylinder petrol engine which is claimed to be most fuel efficient  that can provide the highest power of 53.2bhp and  a maximum torque of 72Nm. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a five-speed manual.

Powering of Wagon r and Celerio is done by the K10B series engine which is a 3-cylinder 998cc power train that along with five-speed manual gearbox (Celerio has additional Amt gearbox too). This combination can supply upto 67bhp power and 90Nm torque. So certainly, Kwid lacks in power but power to weight ratio of Kwid is better which makes its ride more comfortable.

Now discussing the efficiency, then it is clear from above specifications that Kwid is most efficient among three. It provides around 25.17kmpl of fuel economy and the mileage provided of Celerio is 23.1kmpl and Wagonr is 20.5kmpl. Last but not the least, Kwid also have highest Boot capacity of 300 litres.
